Erin Genia Indigenous Peoples' Day

Erin Genia a multidisciplinary artist, educator and community organizer specializing in Native American and Indigenous arts and culture, will speak at a virtual program hosted by the Cambridge Public Library on Wednesday, October 13 at 6:30 p.m. Genia will give a talk titled “Disrupting Colonial Narratives in Public Spaces” in honor of Indigenous Peoples’ Day. The program is co-sponsored by the Mayor’s Office and the City Manager’s Office.

Erin Genia is Sisseton-Wahpeton Oyate/Odawa. Her artistic practice merges Dakota cultural imperatives, pure expression, and exploration of materiality with the conceptual. Genia’s work seeks to amplify the powerful presence of Indigenous peoples in the arts, sciences and public realm to invoke an evolution of thought and practice that is aligned with the cycles of the natural world and the potential of humanity.
