Dr. Chris Pernell to Discuss Health Equity and Justice Wednesday, March 30 as Part of Rescheduled Black History Month Program

Dr. Chris T. Pernell will give a talk about health equity and justice on Wednesday, March 30, beginning at 6 p.m. The lecture, which was originally scheduled to take place at the end of February in celebration of Black History Month, was postponed to the end of March. The program is sponsored by The Mayor’s Office, City Manager’s Office, Cambridge Public Library, and the Employees’ Committee on Diversity.

Dr. Chris Pernell is a dynamic physician leader and social change agent. In her public health practice, she focuses on health justice, community-based advocacy, and health promotion and disease prevention. Dr. Pernell is a senior executive in a hospital in Newark, New Jersey, where she oversees a portfolio that includes Population Health, Strategic Planning, Community Affairs, and the Human Experience.

Dr. Pernell graduated cum laude from Princeton University before attending Duke University School of Medicine. She received her Master of Public Health from the Columbia Mailman School of Public Health, and she completed the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health General Preventive Medicine Residency. Dr. Pernell is a fellow of the American College of Preventive Medicine and holds an appointment as a Clinical Assistant Professor at the Rutgers New Jersey Medical School.
