Cambridge Public Library to Welcome L.R. Hieber to Discuss A Haunted History of Invisible Women

Cambridge, MA, September 25- The Cambridge Public Library is kicking off the ghostliest month of the year with a conversation with L.R. Hieber about her book, A Haunted History of Invisible Women: True Stories of America’s Ghosts. L.R. Hieber’s ghost stories will haunt the Main Library lecture hall on Tuesday, October 3, from 6-7:30 p.m.
A Haunted History of Invisible Women: True Stories of America’s Ghosts, co-authored with Andrea Janes, explores women’s history through ghost stories, including those of sorrowful widows, vengeful jezebels, innocent maidens, wronged lovers, former slaves, and an axe-murderess. Hieber tells the true stories of women immortalized in urban legend and conjures the meaning in the myth. A Haunted History of Invisible Women was a Bram Stoker Award finalist for Superior Achievement in Non-fiction.
Leanna Renee Hieber is an actress, playwright, ghost tour guide and an award-winning author of Gaslamp Fantasy novels such as The Spectral City and Strangely Beautiful series. Her Strangely Beautiful saga garnered three Prism Awards and she was a Daphne du Maurier Award finalist for Darker Still. Her short works have been featured in numerous notable anthologies and her books have been translated into many languages. She has been featured in film and television such as Mysteries at the Museum and Beyond the Unknown, discussing Victorian Spiritualism. She guides tours for NYC’s Boroughs of the Dead and lectures nationwide on Gothic themes, 19th Century women’s history, Spiritualism and the Paranormal.
