Services for Parents & Caregivers

Looking for information about child development?  The Children’s Room offers extensive materials and services for parents, caregivers and educators.  These include books, magazines, audio visual resources, online resources and more.  Be sure to ask a librarian for more information.  In addition, the Children’s Room regularly offers programming for parents and caregivers.  Be sure to check our Calendar of Events to see what’s coming up.

Special Services:

Welcome Baby Bags - The family of each newborn living in Cambridge receives a packet of baby books, a brochure with tips about how to share books with very young children and other information. The Library waits a minimum of 6 months after your baby's birth before sending these packets out.

Story Kits - Family child care providers may participate in a project which delivers kits of theme-related books to their homes.

The Greater Boston Early Childhood Resource Center – A special collection designed for parents, caregivers and educators.  Books, DVD’s curriculum kits, assessment tools and puppets are available for borrowing.  These resources are funded by the Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care and located in the Children’s Room of the Main Library.
