Harvard Square Advisory Committee
The Harvard Square Advisory Committee is appointed by the City Manager to undertake all large project reviews and to receive all applications for variances and special permits for activities within the Harvard Square Overlay District. The Committee meets as needed, on an irregular basis.

Harvard Square Conservation District and Neighborhood Conservation Districts
The Harvard Square Conservation District is adminstered by the Cambridge Historic Commission.
Neighborhood conservations districts, or NCDs, recognize the particular design qualities of distinictive neighborhoods and encourage their protection and maintenance. NCDs located in or near the Harvard Square Overlay District include the Half Crown-Marsh Neighborhood Conservation District and the Mid-Cambridge Neighborhood Conservation District.
