Watershed Division

The Watershed Division is responsible for the preservation, protection, and management of the City's watershed and reservoirs. The ultimate goal of the division is to maximize and control the quality and quantity of raw water provided to the water treatment plant.

The Watershed Division's responsibilities include:

  • Management and operation of the City's three reservoirs: Hobbs Brook, Stony Brook, and Fresh Pond Reservoir;
  • Maintenance and management of City-owned water supply protection lands including Fresh Pond Reservation;
  • Development and implementation of watershed protection and emergency response plans;
  • Partnership development with watershed businesses, municipalities, and other stakeholders; and
  • Implementation of the water quality monitoring and site monitoring programs
