The City of Cambridge Department of Veterans Services will hold a Patriots' Day Observance event on Monday, April 20, at 10:30 a.m., on the Cambridge Common, located outside of Harvard Square surrounded by Massachusetts Avenue, Garden Street and Waterhouse Street. The event will also include participation by the National Lancers, The Cambridge Police and Fire Auxiliary.

Cambridge Mayor and Vice Mayor along with Marc C. McGovern, Chair of the Human Services and Veterans Committee, and the Executive Director Cynthia Shelton Harris will give the City’s greetings and welcoming remarks.

The event will also include a ceremonial reenactment by the National Lancers, of William Dawes’ historic horseback ride from Boston to Cambridge, then to Lexington, alerting the colonists of the British threat of 1775, and marking its 251st anniversary.
