Early Voting

Early Voting for the 2018 State Election is from Monday, October 22 - Friday, November 2.  Any voter registered in Cambridge can vote early - you do not need a reason or excuse.

Voting In Person

Any voter registered in Cambridge can go to any of the five Cambridge Early Voting Locations.  Unlike Election Day, you are not assigned to a polling location. Vote at the location that is most convenient to you!

Voting by Mail

You must apply to receive a ballot by mail. Apply as soon as possible to allow enough time to receive your ballot and mail it back! 

Download an application and send it to the Election Commission Office.

Email your signed application to elections@cambridgema.gov, fax it to 617-349-4366, or mail it to:

  • Cambridge Election Commission

    Cambridge, MA 02139

Once you have voted your ballot, you have three options for returning it:

  1. Return the ballot by mail using the envelope provided with your ballot
  2. Deliver the ballot to the Election Commission office
  3. Return the ballot to an election official at a designated early voting location during prescribed early voting hours

Important Dates for mail-in ballots:

  • Ballots will be mailed starting Monday, October 22
  • The last day to apply for an Early Voting Ballot by mail is Friday, November 2 at 12pm (noon)
  • The last day and time to return your voted ballot is Tuesday, November 6 at 8pm

Absentee Voting

Absentee ballots are available before the early voting period for voters who qualify. For qualifications and information on how to apply, click here.
