New interior stairways have been installed and the interior finish work continues. The installation of electrical, plumbing, mechanical, appliances, & fixtures is ongoing. Exterior site work also continues.
This centrally located facility, the home of Engine 1, Ladder 1, Rescue 1, Fire Prevention, Tech Services, PSIT (Public Safety Information Technology), the Command Staff and Administrative Offices, was originally occupied in February of 1934. Reopening is planned for fall of 2026.

The poles will be in "airlock" type enclosures as part of a redundant system to maintain air quality on the upper floors





An electric substation has been installed (behind the barrier) in order to meet 21st century power demands of the building

The 489 Broadway wing will house Admin staff, some Fire Prevention, Tech Services, and PSIT
