During the week of October 20 thru 23,
Cambridge Rescue 1, Somerville Rescue 1 and
Tower 1, and
Boston Firefighters participated in the
Rope Rescue Anchoring and Rope Management program, hands-on, from the top deck of 6-story parking garage in the Assembly Row neighborhood.
These skills are vital in order to be able to rescue persons trapped out of reach of an aerial ladder, such as a high rise building, a crane, or in an area inaccessible to fire apparatus.
This intense training program is all about teamwork, physics, working knowledge of the equipment and ropes, job management, safety and trust, as well as decision making under pressure.
