This week the Tech Rescue team, Engine 1, Ladder 1, Rescue 1, & Squad 4 (all groups), is participating in high-angle rope rescue ops. Tech rescue firefighters set up for & perform a rope rescue of a simulated victim (window washer) trapped outside an upper floor.
Like nearly all firefighting skills, the job is all about teamwork. In addition to the mechanical skills required, rope rescue/rappelling is physically & mentally demanding and requires
bravery, trust, coordination, & redundancy. Firefighter safety is always a priority.
Thank you to the Special Operations and Safety Division for coordinating the exercise.
Group 1 was on duty for the drill in the photos, 13 June 2023.
