Cambridge Firehouse Engine 6 on River Street Reopens After Major Reconstruction

Following a complete reconstruction of their firehouse at 176 River Street in CambridgePort, Engine Company No. 6 moved back into their quarters on Tuesday, January 2, 2024. 
Twenty-first century improvements include upgraded utilities, lighting, & electrical system with whole-house emergency generator, geothermal HVAC system, full sprinkler system, fire & CO alarms, fire-rated slide pole, decontamination room, PPE (personal protective equipment) extractor & dryer, fitness room, new stainless steel kitchen appliances, individual restrooms, and much more.

 

Protecting CambridgePort for 133 years, this firehouse was first occupied by horse-drawn apparatus in 1891.
