Cambridge Public Library to Host Elaine Castillo, Author of Moderation

On Tuesday, September 30, from 6-7:30 p.m., the Cambridge Public Library will welcome Elaine Castillo, author of How to Read Now and America Is Not the Heart, for a reading from her newest novel, ModerationAfter the reading, Elaine will sit in conversation with writer and editor Meagan Masterman, followed by an audience Q&A and book signing. This event is hybrid, and registration is required

The recipient of starred reviews from Publisher's WeeklyKirkus Reviews, and Booklist, Moderation follows Girlie Delmundo, a social media content moderator falling in love with her boss while her career veers into an increasingly virtual realm, raising pertinent questions about the future of love.

Elaine Castillo, named one of "30 of the Planet's Most Exciting Young People" by the Financial Times, was born and raised in the Bay Area. Her debut novel, America Is Not the Heart, was a finalist for numerous prizes including the Elle Big Book Award, the Center for Fiction Prize, and the Aspen Words Literary Prize and was named a best book of 2018 by NPR, Real SimpleLit HubThe Boston GlobeSan Francisco Chronicle, the New York PostKirkus Reviews, and the New York Public Library.

Meagan Masterman is a writer from Maine, living in Western Massachusetts. Her work has been featured in Peach MagThe Culture We DeserveMaudlin House, and Heavy FeatherShe’s working on a cultural history of women online, tentatively titled No Girls OnThe Internet.
