On Thursday, November 13, at 6 p.m., the Cambridge Public Library will host Morgan Talty, the award-winning author of Night of the Living Rez, for a discussion of his latest novel, Fire Exit. After reading from his work, Talty will answer questions from the audience and sign books. This event is hybrid, and registration is required.Books will be available for purchase at the event.
Fire Exit—which Booklist called "tender and heartbreaking"in a starred review—is a novel about family secrets and how they inform the stories we tell ourselves about who we are and where we live.
Morgan Talty is a citizen of the Penobscot Indian Nation. His debut short story collection, Night of the Living Rez, won the PEN/Robert W. Bingham Prize, the American Academy of Arts and Letters Sue Kaufman Prize, the National Book Critics Circle John Leonard Prize, the New England Book Award, and the National Book Foundation's 5 Under 35 Honor. Talty is an assistant professor of English in Creative Writing and Native American and Contemporary Literature at the University of Maine, Orono, and he is on the faculty at the Stonecoast MFA in Creative Writing as well as the Institute of American Indian Arts.
