Every month we will read and discuss a short story as a group. This month we will read "Popular Mechanics" by Raymond Carver. No preparation needed! Copies of the story will be available for pick up at the Central Square Branch. Registration is helpful but not required!

Join the Cambridge Public Library in celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month by welcoming Alejandro Varela, the author of three books of fiction, including The Town of Babylon, which was nominated for a National Book Award, and Middle Spoon, published just this September. Middle Spoon, which Publisher's Weekly called a "refreshingly candid tale of modern love," follows a married middle-aged gay man as he struggles to move on from a break-up with his boyfriend. After reading from his work, Varela will sit in conversation with Ursula Villarreal-Moura, the author of Like Happiness. An audience Q&A and book signing will follow. Registration is required.

April Selection: The Humans by Matt Haig A book discussion group for adults at the O'Neill Branch Library, reading a mixture of fiction and nonfiction. Please join the Cambridge Public Library in welcoming Stephanie Foo, the author of the bestselling memoir What My Bones Know: A Memoir of Healing from Complex Trauma, for a reading and discussion of her book. Called "a work of immense beauty" by Publisher's Weekly in a starred review, Foo's memoir about enduring C-PTSD has become an essential document for so many survivors and those that know them. This is a hybrid event and registration is required.
