Shortly after 4 pm on Saturday, May 31st, as a result of sudden, wind gusts in the area, Cambridge Fire companies with Marine Unit 2 quickly rescued 4 people from the Charles River after 2 sail boats capsized. No injuries were reported. The water temp at the time was approximately 62 degrees.

Engine 2, Ladders 3 & 2, Rescue 1, Squad 2, Dive Rescue Unit, Marine Unit 2, & Division 1, with Cambridge Police Department, Massachusetts State Police, and Pro EMS responded.

Group 4 was on duty.

Note that this was the second Water Search and Rescue Deployment by Cambridge Fire Companies in the Charles River this week.

Thank you again to the staff of Cambridge ECC for coordinating the emergency response on another hectic Saturday.
