Fatal Electrocution Under Investigation in Cambridge
Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan and Cambridge Police Commissioner Christine Elow have confirmed the ongoing investigation into a fatal electrocution that occurred this morning.
At approximately 8:30 a.m. today, Cambridge Police responded to Bent Street in Cambridge for the report that a male party had been electrocuted. Upon arrival first responders located the 44-year-old Sturbridge man on the ground and began life saving measures before transporting him to Massachusetts General Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The preliminary investigation suggests that the man was working as a subcontractor at an AT&T facility. At the time of the incident, it appears that he was working on an emergency lighting conduit.
This is an open and active investigation being conducted by the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office, Cambridge Police and the Massachusetts State Police Detective Unit assigned to the District Attorney’s Office. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) will also conduct an investigation.
