Middlesex District Attorney will speak about Rx Drug safety program for Seniors

Do you have any unwanted prescription drugs, vitamins, or over-the-counter medications cluttering your medicine cabinet at home?
Seniors can bring their unwanted medications to a special medication “take back” event at the Citywide Senior Center.  Liquids will NOT be accepted. Police personnel will be available to accept unwanted prescription drugs, over-the-counter medications, and vitamins.
Please also join District Attorney Marian Ryan for an important presentation from 12 noon – 1:30 p.m.
With the Commonwealth of Massachusetts in the midst of an unprecedented public health crisis, Middlesex District Attorney Ryan has developed a safety program for seniors to raise awareness about how opioid misuse is directly impacting seniors and their loved ones.
District Attorney Ryan will speak about the far-reaching effects of this crisis and how to manage prescription medications using the “File of Life” program.  She will also discuss:
• How to safeguard medication from theft.
• How to properly dispose of unused or expired medication.
• How to identify signs of drug addiction in grandchildren and other family members.
• How to get loved ones help.

The take back event is sponsored by the Council on Aging, in collaboration with the Cambridge Police Department, the Cambridge Public Health Department, and the Cambridge Elder Abuse Prevention Coalition.
