Recreation
The Recreation Department provides quality, affordable and accessible recreational opportunities for residents of all ages in well-designed and maintained facilities.
The Department is responsible for the management of year-round, citywide and neighborhood-based recreation programs, youth/adult leagues and facilities; the scheduling of all City parks for athletic and recreational uses; and the management of Danehy Park (including the permitting of the barbeque pits) and the Fresh Pond Golf Course.
The Department coordinates recreational and fitness programs and activities at the Cambridge War Memorial Recreation Center, the Gold Star Mothers' Pool and summer children's activities at neighborhood parks and playgrounds.

The Gold Star Pool, located at the corner of Berkshire and Cambridge Streets, is the only City-owned outdoor pool.

The Thomas P. O’Neill, Jr./Fresh Pond Golf Course is an environmentally sensitive and challenging nine hole golf course – operating from early spring through early December.
