Cambridge Police Department to Offer Free Civil Service Exam Prep Class

In-Person Police Exam Prep Session for Residents Interested in Becoming Cambridge Police Officers

Interested in becoming a Cambridge Police Officer and want to learn more about the process? The next police exam period is March 16, 2024, through March 30, 2024.

The Cambridge Police Department will host a free in-person Exam Prep Session on Saturday, February 24, 2024, from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. Residents will learn about how to prepare for the entrance examination. They will also receive free materials from the seminar to aid in studying. To pre-register and secure an in-person seat for the February 24th exam prep session.

The Civil Service Exam application deadline is January 30, 2024.

To become a police officer, you need to first take a written test. You also need to meet the following requirements:
• You must be at least 19 years of age on the date of the exam. You can take the written exam when you turn 19, but you won't be considered for a position until you turn 21.
• You need to have a high school diploma or a GED certificate. You can also satisfy this requirement with three years of military service and an honorable discharge.
• To claim residency preference, you must be a Cambridge resident (lived in the city) at least one year before the date of your exam.
• You must meet minimum fitness requirements.
