Sworn Police Officer Positions: 

The Cambridge Police Department utilizes the Massachusetts Civil Service System for hiring Police Officers. Prospective applicants will need to take the entry level Massachusetts Civil Service Police Exam to apply for a position with the Cambridge Police Department. Upon successfully passing this exam, the Civil Service Commission will place the applicants name on an eligible hiring list that will be used to fill vacant positions. 2025 Academy Class Swearing-In

Police Cadet Program: 

The City of Cambridge's Police Cadet Program is a paid, benefitted, full-time civilian position with the Cambridge Police Department. This program requires a two-year commitment and is geared towards Cambridge residents between the ages of 18-23 years old who have an interest in pursuing a career in policing and serving their community. Many past participants in the Cadet Program have gone on to careers with the Cambridge Police, Cambridge Fire Department, Cambridge Emergency Communications and other public service providers. Traffic Supervisors/School Crossing Guard:

During the school year, school crossing guards play a critical role in helping to keep pedestrians safe.
