The Cambridge Police Department is proud to announce that Officer William Simmons was among the recipients of the 2025 Outstanding City Employee Awards.
The City Manager’s Outstanding Employee Awards (OEA) program recognizes employees nominated by peers, department leaders, and/or members of the community for superior performance, positive attitude, hard work, and dedication to public service. The Outstanding City Employee Awards and the Brian Murphy Award for Leadership in the Workplace and Public Service were presented to their respective recipients at a ceremony in the Sullivan Chamber of Cambridge City Hall on May 16th. The ceremony was led by City Manager Yi-An Huang and other City officials, in attendance were Commissioner Elow and members of the Police Department’s Leadership Team.
Officer Simmons has been with the Police Department for 13 years; he is currently assigned to Central Square as a member of the Community Action Team (Formerly known as the Harvard Sq. / Central Sq. Unit). In that role, Officer Simmons has developed a strong working relationship with a cross-section of the community, including business leaders, city officials, and some of our most vulnerable residents.
