Safer Homes, Safer Communities Gift Cards for Guns Event on June 7th

On Saturday, June 7th the Cambridge Police Department and Middlesex Sheriff's Office will be partnering with some of Cambridge’s interfaith-based organizations, non-profit community and other regional partners to host the 10th annual citywide “Safer Homes, Safer Community: Cambridge Gift Cards for Guns” initiative.

Help make Cambridge an even safer community by disposing of any unwanted guns!

During the event, anyone that turns-in unwanted firearms and BB guns will be eligible for a gift card ranging from $50 - $200 in value. The goal is to help reduce the risk of suicide, accidental discharge, domestic violence, and street crime. 

Children who turn-in any toy guns will be eligible to receive a gift card to Toscanini's ice cream. 

Drop-off locations in Cambridge, both will be open from 10AM - 12PM: 

  1. Reservoir Church, 170 Rindge Ave - Parking Lot
  2. Pentecostal Tabernacle - 77 Columbia St. - Parking Lot

Bring firearms unloaded with the safety engaged in a bag, box, or case. 

Members of the Cambridge Police and Middlesex Sheriff's Office will be on-hand to take possession of the firearms. The Middlesex Sheriff's Office will facilitate the safe destruction of all guns. 

Residents planning to turn-in firearms should attempt to notify the Cambridge Police in advance by calling (617) 349-6009.

Not Available on June 7th? Schedule an appointment anytime in June to have unwanted guns picked up in exchange for gift cards by calling (617) 349-6009.
