    A Palmer St business reported a shoplifting. A store employee reported a suspect had walked into the store, began consuming a beverage, and then fled without paying.

    Damon Ely, 32, of Brookline was placed under arrest on an active warrant out of Cambridge District Court along with several motor vehicle offenses. Officers conducted a motor vehicle stop of a vehicle Ely was operating in Central Sq. and discovered it was unregistered, uninsured and not properly inspected.

    Police responded to a local coffee shop on JFK street after an employee called police to report that they were scammed by a suspect who falsely represented themselves as a member of the Cambridge Fire Department. The suspect posed as a fire inspector and convinced the employee to wire $2,700 to cover the costs of an upcoming inspection.

    Police responded to a Somerville Ave. business on a report of a shoplifting. A store employee stated that a known, repeat shoplifter stole $52 worth of clothing items. In total, the business believes this suspect has been involved with numerous shoplifting incidents and has stolen merchandise totaling over $17,000.

Officers stopped and identified the suspect after a store employee stated the individual had stolen merchandise with a retail value of $59.
