8 New Officers Welcomed to the Cambridge Police Department

2015 Class of Cambridge Police Department

The Cambridge Police Department welcomed eight new police officers to its ranks at a swearing-in ceremony held this week at the Robert W. Healy Public Safety Facility on 125 6th Street.

After successfully completing their training at the Lowell Police Academy and graduating last week, Officers Adam Betts, Robert Ciriello, James Costa, Michael LeVecque, Liam McMahon, Alfred Nicotra, Jonathan Vicente, and Brianna Yearwood were sworn in by City Clerk Donna P. Lopez in front of their family and friends. Also in attendance were Mayor David P. Maher, City Manager Richard C. Rossi, Deputy City Manager Lisa C. Peterson, members of City Council, and former and current members of the Cambridge Police Department.

Cambridge Police Commissioner Robert C. Haas stated, “You’re coming into a nationally-renowned police department that’s deeply engaged with the community. By being sworn in today, you’re taking an important step towards a long and, hopefully, prosperous career with the Cambridge Police Department.”

Notable facts about the 2015 class:

 

  • Four officers graduated from the Cambridge Rindge and Latin School.
  • Officer Jonathan Vicente joins his father Hector as officers with the Cambridge Police Department. Officer Brianna Yearwood joins her brother Jason, who works in the Personnel Unit, and her uncle Victor Martignetti, who is an officer. Officer James Costa’s uncle is Detective Sergeant Silverio Ferreira. 
  • Officer Robert Ciriello and Officer Michael LeVecque joined the Cambridge Police Department after serving as Dispatchers with the Cambridge Emergency Communications Department and Billerica Police Department, respectively.
  • Officer Robert Ciriello was awarded the Outstanding Student Award and Officer Alfred Nicotra the Firearms Top Gun Award by the Lowell Police Academy.
