With the holiday season fast approaching, members of the Cambridge Police Department will conduct door-to-door outreach, schedule free home security assessments and provide educational information in select areas within the Cambridgeport neighborhood tonight and Wednesday night.

Interested residents will have an opportunity to speak with officers about what they can do to protect themselves this holiday season, particularly as it relates to housebreaks and delivered mail package thefts. Educational information will feature housebreak and delivered mail package theft facts, prevention tips and the ways that residents can subscribe to Citizen Alerts. Residents will also have an opportunity to schedule a home security assessment from an officer, who will educate homeowners of any security vulnerabilities at their residence that could potentially lead to a break-in.

“During this holiday season, the Cambridge Police Department encourages residents to be vigilant about their property and look after their neighbors and surrounding areas,” said Deputy Superintendent Steven DeMarco.

Those residents who are not at home at the time of the outreach will receive flyers and can schedule the free home security assessment from the Cambridge Police Department by calling 617-349-3236.
