After a witness statement, which included the suspect vehicle’s license plate number, police were able to locate the suspect vehicle and take the driver/owner into custody. Rufeal Mekonnen, 30, 253 Garden Street in Cambridge, was placed under arrest for OUI liquor, issued a Massachusetts uniform citation for Leaving the scene of property damage and Unregistered Motor Vehicle.

BROADWAY
Cambridge Police responded to the area of Broadway and Inman Street in regards to a larceny that just occurred. A Malden resident used Facebook to meet a female in Cambridge to purchase a television. The male gave a female $80 cash. This female then went into a nearby residence after stating that she needed to get the TV from her apartment. The victim became suspicious and followed this female into an apartment building. The female met up with another female inside of the apartment building. Both female suspects then ran out of the apartment building and down Prospect Street. One of the suspects attempted to Taze the victim with a black/orange stun gun that she was carrying. Officers checked the area for the suspects, but were not able to locate anyone.

The landlord claimed to never have received the check. The reporting party sent another check to the landlord, but then discovered today that the first check had been cashed. The reporting party believes the check was deposited by an unknown party.

Cambridge Police officers responded to a Central Square establishment for a report of a shoplifter being detained by loss prevention personnel. Loss Prevention informed the police officers that the individual was observed placing numerous items into a backpack, then walk past all points of purchase before being stopped at the front entrance. The individual was later identified as Adam Scott, 29, 1 Johnson Street in Woburn, was very uncooperative and was subsequently placed under arrest.
