Commissioner Christine Elow is pleased to announce that the Cambridge Police Department is actively seeking full-time lateral transfers.  

The Cambridge Police Department is looking for highly motivated, community-oriented, and procedurally and socially-just police officers to fill the lateral transfer positions.  

Base salary starts at $60,215 plus expanded Quinn Bill (to include non – Criminal Justice degrees) and several contractual benefits. Other comprehensive benefits include:

Candidates must have completed the MPTC-certified full-time police academy, or equivalent, and have at least one year of field experience. They must be currently employed as a full-time, full-service municipal or MBTA police officer and maintain an active certification from the Massachusetts Peace Officer Standards (POST) Commission.  They are required to have a valid Massachusetts motor vehicle operator’s license and a license to carry for Massachusetts. Additionally, they must have and maintain permanent residence at the time of application in a town within 15 miles of Cambridge.

Candidates must be eligible for transfer from their current department.
