Three Charged After Daytime Shooting in Cambridge on 2/24

CAMBRIDGE – Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan and Cambridge Police Commissioner Christine Elow have confirmed that three male juveniles have been charged with firearm offenses after a brazen daytime shooting in a busy Cambridge neighborhood this week.

On Monday, February 24, 2025, at approximately 2:15 p.m. a Cambridge Police Patrol Officer was handling an unrelated call for service on School Street when they heard what they believed to be multiple gunshots coming from the direction of Bishop Allen Drive. The officer immediately called for assistance and attempted to intervene as they observed several suspects flee the area. As additional officers arrived to assist evidence was located confirming that multiple shots were fired.

Investigators spoke with witnesses and collected surveillance video from the surrounding area. From the information gathered, detectives were able to identify three male juveniles as suspects. A search warrant was obtained and served at the Cambridge home of one of the suspects, yielding additional evidence, including a 30-round capacity magazine and ammunition, allegedly linking these suspects to the shooting.

“These arraignments begin the process of holding accountable those alleged to have been responsible for the shooting incident which occurred in the middle of the afternoon on Monday in busy Central Square. While it is fortunate that no one was injured, that does not mitigate the terrible risk presented by this reckless gun violence,” said District Attorney Ryan.

“Gun violence, particularly violence involving youth has been an ongoing concern and a top priority for the Cambridge Police Department. Our department is deeply committed to aggressively investigating and mitigating such harmful activity in our community. I am grateful for the work of our officers, detectives and support personnel who in partnership with the District Attorney’s Office were able to quickly identify and bring charges against those believed to have been responsible for this troubling act of violence.” said Commissioner Christine Elow.

As a result of the investigation, three juveniles have been arraigned for their involvement in this incident.

  • A 17-year-old Cambridge juvenile has been arraigned and charged with assault with a dangerous weapon, discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a building, carrying a firearm without a license, possessing a firearm and ammunition without a license. He was also charged with possession of a large capacity magazine and ammunition.
  • a 14-year-old Boston juvenile has been arraigned on a charge of assault with a dangerous weapon, and
  • a 15-year-old Framingham juvenile has been arraigned on a charge on accessory after the fact. He was also charged with assault and battery on a police officer.

With the exception of youthful offenders, juvenile proceedings are closed to the public.

This case is being investigated by the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office, the Cambridge Police Department and Massachusetts State Police Detectives assigned to the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office. The prosecutor assigned to this case is Edward Kim.
