Cambridge Public Safety Pauses to Recognize 24th Anniversary of September 11th

Today, on what is the 24th Anniversary of the September 11th Terrorist Attacks, members of the CPD and our public safety partners paused to remember those who were lost during the tragic events. At the Robert W. Healy Public Safety Facility, a wreath has been placed beside the September 11th Memorial Stone and in the lobby a piece of steel recovered from the World Trade Center site is displayed as a lasting reminder of that day. This morning, the Cambridge Emergency Communications Center held a moment of silence and Cambridge Fire stations across the city hosted remembrance ceremonies. Among the thousands who lost on September 11th were 60 Police Officers, 343 Firefighters, and 8 EMS Workers, in the years since countless other first responders have had their lives cut short or forever altered by related illnesses.
