Candle Regulation
Pursuant to the authority vested in the
Chief of the Cambridge Fire Department as the Authority Having Jurisdiction by
G. L. c. 148, § 28, the Chief of the Cambridge Fire Department prohibits the
use of lit candles at all times anywhere on the premises of any and all
licensed establishments in the City of Cambridge, with the following
exception(s) only: 1) licensed establishments may light and place
birthday candles atop a birthday cake for a birthday cake presentation,
provided that the birthday candles are used solely for the birthday cake
presentation and provided that the birthday candles are immediately
extinguished following the presentation of the birthday cake; 2) licensed
establishments may light candles if a fire detail is present, provided that the
candles are extinguished at or before the end of the fire detail shift.
