Next Up
Are you (or someone you know):
- A Cambridge resident between the ages of 18-24
- A high school graduate (or have a HiSet or GED)
- Not enrolled in college
- Unemployed or working a dead-end job
- Interested in building your career experience and planning for your future
The Office of Workforce Development program, Next Up, helps young adults figure out their next step in building a career. The program offers paid internships, weekly classes, career exploration, and coaching. We’ll help you figure out if you want to go back to school or a training program or look for a better job.
The workshops are designed to be fun and engaging with opportunities for hands-on experiences and will allow participants to work on soft skills and goal-setting, identify their interests, explore careers and develop leadership skills. For example, in order to explore the Food Services Industry, we may cook a meal or participate in a restaurant tasting or hear from a local chef or restaurant owner or do all of the above! All activities will connect to the participants’ work experiences and skill building.
Please come and talk with us (or send anyone you know). We want to know what’s going on with you so we can try to help. This is one of a variety of employment services offered through our office that might be right for you or someone you know.
