Are you (or someone you know):
- between the ages of 19 and 25 with a high school diploma or equivalent
- working in a dead end job and need a plan for the future?
The Office of Workforce Development for the City of Cambridge is seeking participants for Next Up, a program starting later this year that can help young adults, who are Cambridge residents, figure out their next step in building a career. This is for Cambridge residents who are not currently enrolled in college.
The program will run from September 17-December 7, and participants will get paid work experience and attend weekly workshops and outings. We’ll help you figure out if you want to go back to school or a training program or look for a better job.
The workshops are designed to be fun and engaging with opportunities for hands-on experiences and will allow participants to work on soft skills and goal-setting, identify their interests, explore careers and develop leadership skills. For example, in order to explore the Food Services Industry, we may cook a meal or participate in a restaurant tasting or hear from a local chef or restaurant owner or do all of the above! All activities will connect to the participants work experiences and skill building.
Please come and talk with us (or send anyone you know), we want to know what’s going on with you so we can try to help. This is one of a variety of employment services offered through our office that might be right for you or someone you know.
