Dive Rescue Team
The team is made up of 20 divers from all 4 groups, as well as staff positions. There are divers on duty 24/7 for rapid deployment. We have agreements with several metro area departments and the Mass State Police to assist with water rescues. The team can respond to any community with our personnel and equipment, including our own marine unit(s). The team can operate at extended incidents by refilling SCUBA tanks from the air supply truck and calling in off-duty divers for relief.
Dive 1 was placed in service on 15 Sep 2025. The truck is a Ford F450/Road Rescue, four wheel drive & replaces an older Dive Rescue apparatus.
This truck will be utilized to support the CFD firefighter divers in underwater search & rescue operations.
The interior is maintained neat, clean, & orderly, and is ready for response when needed.
It provides complete SCUBA (self contained underwater breathing apparatus) units, spare air cylinders, dry suits, comms systems, decon equipment, safety lines & ropes, lights, accountability/safety system, spare parts, rescue and EMS equipment, hand tools, & more. It also provides shelter from the elements when divers are donning or doffing equipment.
Dive searches are supplemented by equipment available on the Marine Units, Rescue, Squads & other companies as needed, such as sonar & scene lighting.
