Community Engagement and Family Support

The Department of Human Service Programs’ Community Engagement and Family Support division includes the Center for Families, Cambridge Dads, Baby University, and the DHSP Community Engagement Team (CET). Through intentional community engagement, outreach, and relationship building, the division works hand in hand with Cambridge families and local providers to build trust and create strength-based programs and family supports that grow with the Cambridge community's changing needs.

Case management supports
Community-building events for families
Program just for dads/male caregivers
Culturally responsive outreach and community engagement

Center for Families

Family and parenting support programming for Cambridge families with children ages birth to 8 years old.

Baby University

A family support program that serves Cambridge families who have children three years old and younger.

Cambridge Dads

Programs and events designed to engage, support, and inform Cambridge fathers and father figures.

DHSP Community Engagement Team

A team that supports community members and local providers through culturally responsive community engagement.

Welcome Baby Boxes Provide Baby Care Essentials to Cambridge Parents

During the 11th Participatory Budgeting cycle, Cambridge residents voted to fund Welcome Baby Boxes for new parents. This initiative, offered by the Center for Families, provides Baby Boxes to eligible Cambridge parents who have a child under one year old. Since outreach began in the Fall of 2025, more than 60 Cambridge households have signed up to receive a Baby Box.
