Removal of Public Shade Trees
City of Cambridge, Department of Public Works
Pursuant to Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 87, Sections 3 and 4, a public hearing will be held on Thursday, January 30th, 2025 at 5:30 p.m. at the DPW Main Conference Room at 147 Hampshire Street, Cambridge, Mass. and virtually through Zoom at https://cambridgema.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_UDkrOvoVRDCLqzTlp0AR0g, to consider the removal of the following public tree(s):
- 25, 55, & 75 Broadway (north side between Ames St and Third St) – Removal of 22 linden trees and 1 crabapple (13”, 14.5”, 19”, 16.4”, 16.7”, 13.1”,13.7”, 18.7”, 13.4”, 12.7”, 15.9”, 15.2”, 18”, 17.2”, 16.5”, 17.7”, 14.6”, 14.4”, 14.2”, 14.2”, 6.7”, 1.9” (crabapple), & 10.1”) for new street network and utility upgrades including a 72” drain line and 16” water main. Location will be replanted.
- Broadway (in median opposite 50) – Removal of 3 trees (4.6” Ginkgo, 5.2” Ginkgo, & 3.9” swamp white oak) for new street network and utility upgrades including a 72” drain line and 16” water main.
- Third Street (Opposite 350) – Removal of 3 lindens (16.7”, 16.8” & 19”) for new street network and utility upgrades including a 72” drain line and 16” water main. Location will be replanted.
The tree(s) identified above have been posted for public inspection. Any objections to their removal must be submitted in writing to the City Arborist, prior to or during the hearing.
