Sewer Cleaning and Lining

Project Image

The City's contractor, National Water Main, will be lining several sewer and drain lines throughout the City. This method, called Cured-in-Place Pipelining, will provide a new, joint-less sewer pipe connection that minimizes root and water infiltration problems, improves flow, and provides for a more structurally sound pipe without the need for excavation.

Impacted residents will receive notification 7 days in advance directly from National Water Main about when work will occur in their area. During the specified time, residents are asked to limit the use of water going down the drain. Once service is restored, residents will be promptly notified.

No Parking signs will be posted 48-hours in advance. Please take note.

During certain phases of the operation, residents may see large amounts of steam coming from the manhole and detect an odor. This is part of the lining process.

This work is expected to take place year-round throughout the City.

What kind of impacts can I expect during this work?

Residents will be notified 48-hours in advance of work being performed on the specific pipe that your home is connected to. During this period of work, your property's sewer service connection will be completely sealed off from the City's mainline in the street.

Do I have to limit water use when work is being done at my location?

Yes. You will be notified with a specific date and time when the pipe connected to your home is being rehabilitated. During this time, please limit water use. Do not use washing machines or dishwashers. If you must shower, leave the water in the tub until your service has been restored. Any sump pumps connected to the sewer system must be disconnected and/or discharged to prevent backups.

Are there bad odors associated with this work?

During certain phases of the operation, you may detect an odor. Odors are most likely to occur in houses or buildings with a faulty, or non-existent trap. In most cases, any odors can be minimized by pouring several gallons of water down your sinks, showers, toilets, etc, and by opening your windows.

How will I know when crews are done working on my section of the sewer?

When your service has been restored, you will be promptly notified with another notice.
