Sherman Street Drainage Improvements

Project Image

The Walden Square inflow and infiltration (I&I) project is located in the vicinity of 99 Sherman Street. The City has designated this area for redesign to help reduce the amount of storm water that goes into the city drainage system to prevent flooding during heavy rain events. The I&I project at Walden Square encompasses three parcels of land with the first parcel being the surface parking lot at Danehy Park, the second being the roadway at Sherman Street, and the third being the surface lot at the Walden Square Apartments.

The redesign of this area calls for the existing drain line under the surface lot in the Walden Square Apartments to be intercepted to allow storm water to be diverted to the existing storm water tank under the surface lot at Danehy Park. In order to accomplish this, a pipe needs to be installed under the utilities in Sherman Street. Once across the street the pipe will tie into the existing storm water tank. At the existing storm water tank, the diverted water will be held to discharge at ‘off peak’ times after a rain event, reducing the loads on the existing drain line in Sherman Street.

This project is complete. There will be no more updates to this page.
