Charles River Dam Road Safety Improvements will include Separated Bike Lanes, Dedicated Left Turn Lane, Enhanced Signal Timing

Beginning the week of July 21st, MassDOT will begin making safety improvements to Charles River Dam Road. These improvements include:

  • Two vehicular travel lanes to Boston and to Cambridge
  • Dedicated left turn lane to Land Boulevard and the Museum of Science 
  • Flex-post separated bike lanes with bike signals
  • Enhanced pavement marking, signage and signal timings

Construction will occur overnight during the weeks of July 21 and July 28 and lane closures will be clear by 5 a.m.
