Orange Cones

Beginning September 26th, weather permitting, the City’s contractor, E J Paving, began performing partial roadway milling (grinding) and paving operations to enhance the road conditions on several sections of street around the City. The roadway grinding operation at each location is expected take two days followed by paving of the roadway later that same week, or the following week (weather permitting). For a list of street sections to be re-surfaced, please see below. Please note, the entire street will not be re-paved, just the travel lane of the section within the limits listed:

Final paving of the following streets is scheduled for Wednesday, October 4 and Thursday, October 5, weather permitting. All updates and delays will be posted here.

The street segments scheduled for milling and paving area:

  • Antrim Street (Broadway to Cambridge Street)
  • Inman Street (Harvard Street to Mass Ave)
  • Pleasant Street (Putnam Ave to Fairmont Street)
  • Albany Street (Mass Ave to Erie Street)
  • Bristol Street (Market Street to Hampshire Street)
  • Third Street (Cambridge Street to Thorndike Street, Potter Street to Broadway Street)

Due to the nature of this work and the scale of each paving job, specific work dates on your street are not available. However, please be sure to watch for paper NO PARKING SIGNS, posted 24-hours in advance, which will indicate exact location and dates when work will take place. Residents who have vehicles parked in the project area will need to move them prior to 7a.m.

What to Expect During Construction:

  • General work hours 7a.m.- 6p.m., Monday through Friday.
  • Please check posted No Parking signs as the on-street parking will be impacted by the work.
  • Detours will be in effect during work hours.
  • As the street is milled, the surface will be rough, with raised manhole covers. The roadway will be lower, making the curbs higher for parked cars. Please use caution when opening car doors.
  • Access will be maintained for abutters whenever possible. Caution should be used.
  • Access will be maintained at all times for City services and emergency vehicles.

Newly paved areas will be reopened to users as conditions allow, typically within a few hours of completion.
