City of Cambridge Closures and Service Information for the Christmas Holiday

Most City of Cambridge offices, libraries, and senior centers will be closed on Friday, December 22 and Monday December 25 in observance of the Christmas holidays. All Cambridge Public Library locations will also be closed December 22-25. The Cambridge Cemetery will have the gates open from 7 a.m.- 5 p.m. throughout the holiday season, but the administrative office will be closed on December 22 and December 25 for the city holiday observance dates.   

Cambridge Election Commission will be open on Friday, December 22, from 8:30 a.m. - 5 p.m., due to the deadline to submit nomination papers for Presidential Primary candidates.  

Parking Meters 
Parking meter payments will not be required at Cambridge parking meters and parking meter pay stations on December 25. 

Curbside Collection Holiday Schedule   
Curbside collection of trash, recycling, compost, and yard waste will be on a regular schedule on December 22. Curbside collections are suspended on December 25, and will be one day behind for the remainder of that week. Yard waste collection ends Friday, December 29 for the winter season and will resume on April 1, 2024. 
     
Street Cleaning Holiday Schedule  
Street cleaning will occur on the regular fourth Friday route on Friday, December 22. Street cleaning will be suspended on December 25 and will have a makeup day of December 29, which is also the last day of street cleaning for the winter season and will resume on April 1, 2024. 

Recycling Drop Off Center, 147 Hampshire Street    
The Recycling Drop Off Center will be open on its regular hours, Tuesdays (4-7:30 p.m.), Thursdays (4-7:30 p.m.), and Saturdays (9 a.m. - 4 p.m.). It will, however, be closed on Saturday, December 23.   

Holiday Tree Collection Schedule   
Curbside pick-up of un-decorated Christmas trees will occur on your regular collection day from January 2-12, 2024. Decorations and stands must be removed and trees should not be in a plastic bag. Residents can also bring bare trees to the Recycling Center during open hours, Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 4 - 7:30 p.m. and Saturdays, from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.
