Hampshire Street Drainage Area Upcoming Survey Work

The Department of Public Works and their subcontractor, WSP, will soon begin conducting survey work within the Hampshire Street Drainage Area. This work is part of the City's ongoing planning efforts to evaluate existing drainage and sewer infrastructure and collect data needed to support future improvement projects.

Survey activities are expected to begin in the coming weeks and continue intermittently over the next three to four months. The survey area is shown on the attached map.

The majority of survey work will occur within the public right-of-way. However, survey crews may need to briefly cross onto private property to collect measurements such as building elevations and other existing site conditions adjacent to the public right-of-way. Survey personnel will not need to enter homes or other buildings as part of this work.

Residents may notice survey crews walking throughout the project area carrying survey equipment, including prism poles. Survey personnel will be wearing yellow safety vests and WSP-branded shirts for identification.

Survey activities may include:

  • Topographic and boundary surveying
  • Collection of drainage and utility infrastructure data
  • Building and site elevation measurements
  • Establishment of survey control points

What to Expect:

  • Work hours will generally be 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
  • Survey crews will be working on foot throughout the project area.
  • Work will occur intermittently, and crews may revisit areas multiple times during the survey period.
  • No entry into homes or buildings is required.
  • Traffic and parking impacts are expected to be minimal.
