Pleasant Street intersection at Fairmont Street Reconstruction

August 2015

During the month of August, crews will continue with the reconstruction of the Pleasant/Fairmont intersection. Final paving is scheduled for September 2015.

Surface Work: late July/early August 2015

Staff form the Community Development Department received a request for safety improvements at the intersection of Pleasant Street and Fairmont Street from neighborhood residents. Taking into consideration that Fairmont Street was going to be under construction, city staff worked with residents to discuss possible physical changes that could be incorporated in this project. A community meetings was held on January 30, where residents discussed their concerns and reviewed the proposed safety improvements for the intersection.

As a result of the meeting, In addition to roadway reconstruction, the project includes a curb extensions on Pleasant Street at Fairmont Street south east corner to enhance safety for pedestrians and new access ramps and crosswalks at the 4 corners of the intersection. Through this work we will be able meet access codes required by the The Architectural Access Board (AAB).

Its legislative mandate states that it shall develop and enforce regulations designed to make public buildings accessible to, functional for, and safe for use by persons with disabilities.)
