Pole and Conduit Commission

Authority: Massachusetts General Law ch. 166, Chapter 213 of the Special Acts of 1922 and Cambridge Ordinance and Regulations

Purpose: Regulate the installation and maintenance of electrical poles and underground conduits for City property.

Fee: Utility companies are required to pay a fee for each petition that they submit to the Pole and Conduit Meeting. The fee is $200.00 per street for all types of connections.

Term: 3 years

Membership: 3 members (License Commission Chair, City Electrician, and Superintendent of Streets)

Meetings: The Pole and Conduit Commission usually meets the third Thursday of the month at 9 a.m.

The approval process takes approximately two to four weeks. The filing deadline is 12 p.m.,12 business days prior to the next Pole and Conduit Commission meeting (on the Tuesday 2 weeks prior to the meeting). Please call our office at 617-349-6141 with any questions.

Pole and Conduit Commission Meetings are generally held on the third Thursday of every month, at 9 a.m.
