The Council on Aging (COA) works to promote and safeguard the health and independence of Cambridge seniors over the age of 60. We arrange many necessary services and provide meaningful social and recreational options that help enhance our senior’s lives.

The COA acts as an information and referral for seniors.

What programs and services are offered at the Citywide Senior Center?

Located in Central Square, the Citywide Senior Center serves as a "one stop” multi-service center for seniors living in Cambridge and the surrounding area. The Senior Center offers the following programs and services:

  • Breakfast and lunch, Monday - Friday
  • Senior Food Pantry
  • ESL and computer classes
  • Tai Chi, Yoga, strength training & dance aerobics.
  • Line dancing
  • Exercise programs
  • Local day trips
  • Arts and crafts classes
  • Health and wellness Lectures
  • Bingo
  • Volunteer opportunities
  • Special events

The Citywide Senior Center’s ethnic and cultural programs include: the Asian Elders, the African-American Seniors, the Haitian Seniors, and the Latino Seniors.

What programs and services are offered at the North Cambridge Senior Center?

The North Cambridge Senior Center offers seniors an exciting schedule of social and recreational activities, including:

  • Lunch, served Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 11:30-12:15
  • Bingo & whist
  • Arts and Crafts
  • Exercise/stretch/strength training
  • W.O.W (Watching Our Weight)
  • Yoga and Zumba Gold
  • Walking club
  • Computer tutoring
  • Safety awareness classes
  • Health talks
  • Monthly birthday tea
  • Weekly movies

Throughout the year, we arrange numerous day trips, themed parties, movies, ethnic presentations, special bazaars and much more. The North Cambridge Senior Center also offers:

  • Free blood pressure screening  
  • Fee based podiatry services
  • Various free health screenings
