Construction Notice: Tree Protection and Exploratory Excavation Work Beginning on Monday, August 31, 2026

As part of the upcoming Gray Street Reconstruction Project, the City’s contractor, D’Allessandro Corp., will mobilize on Monday, August 31, to begin installing tree protection and performing excavation work on the street. Crews will work between Martin Street and Linnaean Street.

Immediately following this work, crews will begin installing a new water main and stormwater utilities.

This work is expected to take approximately four weeks to complete, weather permitting.

Detours will be in place during work hours. Please look for Detour, Road Closed, and No Parking signs, as traffic and parking restrictions may change frequently as work progresses.

What to Expect During Construction:

  • General work hours will be 7am – 4pm, Monday-Friday.
  • Please check posted No Parking signs.
  • Please follow pedestrian detour signs.
  • Access to properties will be maintained, when possible.
  • Access will be maintained for emergency vehicles and City services.

We are pleased to announce this contract, which includes 5 streets, has been awarded to D'Allessandro Corp. A schedule is being developed and will be shared as soon as it is available.


Gray Street Reconstruction Project: Second On Site Community Meeting Tuesday, April 15th from 4 - 6 p.m.

The Department of Public Works and the City’s Community Development Department will be hosting an on-site Community Meeting on Tuesday, April 15. Anyone interested in attending can meet project staff at the corner of Gray Street and Martin Street to discuss the Gray Street Reconstruction Project.

The focus of this meeting will be to review the initial draft plans for the street. The project is part of the City’s Complete Streets initiative to design and operate streets that are safe for all users including pedestrians, cyclists, motorists and public transit users.

Gray Street Reconstruction Project: On Site Community Walk Wednesday, May 8 from 5 - 7 p.m.

Gray Street from Martin Street to Linnaean Street is scheduled for reconstruction in 2024 as part of the City’s Five-Year Plan for Sidewalk and Street Reconstruction.

The Department of Public Works and the City’s Community Development Department will be hosting an onsite walk Wednesday, May 8 from 5-7 p.m. Anyone interested in attending can meet project staff at the intersection of Martin St and Gray St.

To help you prepare for the meeting, we have posted a video presentation above. We encourage all residents and businesses to watch this video prior to the May 8 meeting.

We are in the design phase of the project and City staff would like to meet residents and walk the street to identify and discuss issues of concern. If you are unable to attend the site walk, please share your feedback by completing this brief survey:
