The City will provide new trash carts in June 2022. The Department of Public Works (DPW) will deliver new trash carts to all buildings where the City collects their trash.
In observance of the Presidents Holiday on Monday, February 21, City of Cambridge offices, libraries, and senior centers will be closed. There will be no curbside collections and payments will not be required at parking meters and parking pay stations.
In observance of the Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday on Monday, January 17, City of Cambridge offices, libraries, and senior centers will be closed. There will be no curbside collection service and payments at parking meters and parking pay stations will not be required.
City of Cambridge offices, libraries, and senior centers will be closed on Thursday and Friday, December 23-24, in observance of the Christmas holiday and on Friday, December 31, in observance of the New Year’s holiday. Curbside collection of trash, recycling, compost, and yard waste will occur on its regular schedule throughout the Christmas and New Year’s holidays. Street cleaning will occur per its regular schedule on Thursday, Dec. 23. There will be no street cleaning on Friday, Dec. 24 and Friday, Dec. 31. The makeup day for Friday, Dec. 24 street cleaning will be Wednesday, Dec. 29.
The City of Cambridge has launched free curbside collection of clothing and textiles for reuse and recycling as of December 7, 2021. Residents can schedule their free curbside collection through the Zero Waste Cambridge app or the Get Rid of It Right tool. Curbside collection of textiles is free and will take place at least once per week in Cambridge.
There will be no curbside collection of trash, recycling, compost, and yard waste, and no street cleaning on Thursday, November 25. Streets that would have normally been swept on November 25 will be swept on Monday, November 29. Curbside collection and street cleaning will occur on Friday, November 26. Collection routes will, however, be one day behind schedule for the remainder of the week.
For the past two weeks the Department of Public Works Forestry Division has been utilizing these funds to work on expanding the bare root nursery. This gravel bed nursery serves as a temporary holding place for bare root trees to be planted around the City.
Curbside collection of trash, recycling, compost, and yard waste will be suspended on the holiday and one day behind schedule for the rest of that week. Regularly scheduled street cleaning routes for Thursday, November 11 will be swept on Friday, October 29.
Keolis will be working to replace the railroad crossing on Cambridge Street on Friday, October 29 into Saturday, October 30. The work will require a full shutdown of all traffic on Cambridge street at the crossing location.
