Annual Affordable Housing Stock Update for 2025

CDD has completed its annual update to the stock of affordable housing units in the city. There are now 9,021 affordable housing units in the city, a net increase of 90 affordable units from the 2024 total of 8,931 units. 
 
This total includes affordable rental housing owned by the Cambridge Housing Authority, non-profit, and private affordable housing providers; inclusionary housing, both rental and homeownership; and all other affordable homeownership. Affordable housing units in this count are subject to long-term affordability restrictions to keep housing affordable to residents earning less than 120% of area median income, and were either under construction or complete as of June 30, 2025. Affordable housing units added since the 2024 report include affordable rental housing units now under construction at 49 Sixth Street (46 units) and 4 Mellen (29 affordable units).  
 
CDD has also estimated the number of all housing units in the city at 58,966 units permitted or completed as of June 30, 2025.
