Cambridge Planning Board

The Cambridge Planning Board reviews plans and proposals under the Special Permit provisions of the Cambridge Zoning Ordinance and Chapter 40A of the Massachusetts General Laws, proposes or reviews zoning amendments, makes recommendations to the City Council about proposed revisions to the Zoning Ordinance, and engages in general planning efforts to improve the physical environment of the City.

UPDATE: Due to statewide emergency orders limiting the size of public gatherings in response to COVID-19, and in accordance with Governor Charles D. Baker's Executive Order of March 12, 2020, temporarily amending certain requirements of the Open Meeting Law, as well as the City of Cambridge Temporary Emergency Restrictions on City Public Meetings, City Events and City Permitted Events Due to COVID-19 amended on October 26, 2020, meetings of the Planning Board will be held with remote participation until further notice.

Additionally, while the State of Emergency is in effect, Chapter 201 of the Acts of 2020 provides that applications for permits issued by City multi-member boards and commissions may be filed by e-mail to the City Clerk at cityclerk@cambridgema.gov.  All application fees should be submitted to the applicable board or commission by mailFor further instructions on Planning Board applications please contact Swaathi Joseph at sjoseph@cambridgema.gov.
