Alberico Park

Proposed Improvements

The City is proposing some improvements to Alberico Park, a small neighborhood park in Cambridgeport:

  • Additional trees and a colorful safety surface in place of much of the existing asphalt area
  • Simple "mound" and "dish" landforms to support a wide range of active and imaginative play
  • Possible stacked stone seating blocks

Previous Renovation

When this park was renovated in 2012-2013, the City introduced a new multi-use hard surface, intended to provide space for ice skating year-round, among other activities. That kind of surface hadn't been used previously in Cambridge and didn't work out as intended, so the City replaced it with a temporary asphalt surface. This surface was intended as an interim measure, until an opportunity arose to replace it with more suitable park features.
