Putnam Green

625 Putnam Ave

Homeowners Rehab, Inc. (HRI) completed construction of 40 units of affordable rental housing at 625 Putnam Avenue in 2012. Purchased by HRI in 2009, the original property was the site of a vacant lab building and brownfield. It was transformed into an affordable, sustainable, healthy residential development, enhancing the neighborhood and helping to transform this section of Cambridgeport.

The development achievied LEED-for-Homes Platinum, Energy Star, and Enterprise Green Communities (EGC) certifications, making the buildings as energy efficient as possible. Selected features include solar hot water and electricity, energy efficient mechanical systems and building envelope, water-saving plumbing fixtures, sustainable building materials including several with recycled content.

Construction was completed in April 2012. No further updates will be made to this project page.

The property includes:

  • 40 units in two separate buildings, containing 10 one-bedrooms, 20 two-bedrooms, and 10 three-bedrooms

  • All units are affordable to households making up to 60% AMI

  • 28 underground vehicle parking spaces

  • On-site laundry

  • Solar thermal rooftop systems
